Experiences

What happens when you take a country girl, currently living in the suburbs (which has enough people, as far as she’s concerned), and transplant her into a major city for a scientific convention with 80 of her coworkers and 18,000 of her closest friends?

Panic.

One single word, pure and beautiful in its simplicity.

Of course there’s also confusion, disorientation, and exhaustion.

It’s known as DDW (Digestive Disease Week) and it is the largest (as far as this lowly DDW employee knows) convention for gastroenterologists and hepatologists. Also of note is that it is being held in San Diego this year.

Basically, I’ll get to wave at the Zoo as I ride the trolley on my way to work…

Did I tell you?

Did I tell you that I miss you while you’re gone?

It’s too quiet here without you.

Did I tell you I’ve been sleeping on your side of the bed?

Now it’s my side that looks empty.

Did I tell you the cat’s been keeping me company?

I think she’s getting tired of my conversation.

Did I tell you you’re my other half?

I’m just not the same when you’re gone.

“Bastard’s demons*…” it’s been a long time

It has been a while since my fingers have pounded away at the keys to bring something to these pages that someone somewhere might read (though I’m certainly don’t have any delusions of grandeur).  The saddest part is that after nearly 5 months, I don’t feel like I have anything interesting worth saying.  Sure, I could prattle on and on about what I’ve been doing in my life, my job, my family… But let’s be honest: that’s what Live Journal is for.  WordPress is my little haven to be witty or sophisticated.  *snicker*  So I find it wholly disappointing that I have no such words of wisdom or even wistful musing after so long a time away from my “haven.”

Bugger it!
